The lights on the lead SUV in the convoy pierce the darkness as Leroy and Kristen zip down the empty road. Nighttime in the desert can be tricky sometimes if there is a windstorm blowing sand around like there is this evening. One must watch out for the animals that roam around at night as well.
Kristen turns the music down a bit and turns to Leroy, “So, what do you think the deal is with motorcycle guy? Samuel told me yesterday that he is finally awake and asking a lot of questions.”
Looking straight ahead, Leroy responds, “I’m not quite sure. Personally, I’m surprised the dude is still alive. Whatever those doctors do in there is miracle work. The guy is lucky we were even able to get his heart back up and running.”
“I heard someone say the guy has a connection to The Underground. I wonder if that is why Dr. Marx is giving so much attention to him. I mean, we are connected in a way, but then again, not really. The Conservatory is built on the grounds of the original site that The Underground was thought up.” Kristen leans back in the passenger seat to get more comfortable. The trip across New Mexico to get back to The Facility takes a while.
