I am familiar with this charming and welcoming cliff,
have stood at its edge many times —
there is something very attractive about it,
the crisp edge, the calm, the void, the depths,
and below…
the waves fighting with each other,
the stubborn rocks laughing at the waves.

I have stood at its edge many times, when…

when I desired quiet instead of cacophony,
when I desired to be away from viles and vices,

when my hopes upon hopes seemed futile,
when my afflictions were shining bright,

when I owned my struggles
and did not flaunt them to earn pity glances,
when I got bogged down by missteps,
but got up pompously like nothing happened…

I ran away, only to be at the edge of this cliff,
to savour the moments with the sea and its waves,
and perhaps be one with the sea and its depths —

but… every time…
