Simms and I get into the squad car to head over to the MOMA. As we are pulling away from the curb we hear a loud blast. It would be just our luck that a transformer blows right now.

Of course, it wasn’t a transformer. I look in my rearview and see glass, concrete, and dust falling from the sky. People are screaming and running in every direction trying to avoid the debris raining down on them. I throw my door open and look up only to see a series of windows completely blown out and fire shooting into the open air. My guess is this is the area that Special Ops was in.

Jenkin's voice shouts through my speaker, “Chief! Are you there? A bomb was planted in the room. I need help up here. I’ve got three men down and who knows how many civilians in the spaces surrounding this one.”

I take a deep breath, “I’ll send help ASAP. The building was cleared out as soon as the call came in, so there shouldn’t be anyone else in the building. If you aren’t injured, have a look around. Or wait for my guys and they can do a search.”

“I’m not injured at all. I was a few floors down when the blast went off. I have two other officers with me, and we are surveying the damage now.” Jenkins responded back quickly.
