The Accident (Part 17)
A Short Story
Wendy turns her attention to the phone, “Well, hello, Kristen. Your ears must have been ringing. I was just telling Veronica that I knew a few hackers that could help us.”
Kristen, very serious, responds, “Hey, Wendy, it’s nice to hear your voice. Two hackers that could be of assistance, huh? You couldn’t be talking about Leroy and myself.”
Laughing, Wendy answers, “That is exactly who I was talking about. No better people to trust when it comes to hacking than the two of you. I imagine this call isn’t just to catch up on life. What can I do for you?”
“Well, here’s the thing…” Kristen hesitates for a moment, “Leroy and I picked up an accident victim several months ago in California and transported him to The Conservatory. Due to the severity of the injuries, we didn’t recognize him at that moment.”
Wendy interrupted her, “Let me stop you right there, Kristen. I’m guessing this is in reference to Jim Foster.”
Shocked, Kristen replies, “Yea, how did you know?”
