Pastor, preacher man,
at my desk, my altar
with my bread, my water
in conversation with pilgrims of the word

Oh, high and mighty
lofty elevations of wisdom and thought
sermons from the pulpit to pews

I righteous type a humble keyboard
inviting conversations, seducing opinions and views

Solitude prays in silence that I write with grace
Grace pretends for no one and declares ambition

Oh, pious one, grace begets grace

Devout petitions to knowns and unknowns unfold
thoughts channel, and take space and place
I claim this one, not that one, as my own

Churches built from stone on platitudes, prayer and penance
Readers congregate — donate attention
we show scorn and sacrifice to algorithms
algorithms show no forgiveness and mercy

Praise be to hubris and glory given to convenience of meaning
interpretation is ours to own
misplaced faith gives…
