“Those who love Nature can never be dull.” –Sir John Lubbock

I have always been intrigued by nature field guides, small books that document plant and animal life specific to a particular region. For the month of August, I will be creating my own Poetry Field Guide as part of an exercise to reconnect with nature through poetry.

For centuries, people have found inspiration in the natural world and used poetry to express their emotions about the changing seasons. Writing nature poetry is a great way to connect with and better understand the world around us. Whether you’re a seasoned poet or new to the craft, keeping a journal can be a powerful tool for tapping into your creativity and forging a deeper connection with nature.

The act of journaling itself can be therapeutic, helping you to clear your mind and focus your thoughts. When you combine journaling with a love of nature, the benefits can be even greater. By observing the world around you and recording your thoughts and experiences, you can tap into a deep well of inspiration that can fuel your creative work for years to come.
