Does extracurricular activities really help you to be out of mobile devices?

As a high school students in San Francisco, I identify myself one of the person that waste so much time in mobile devices. For instance playing games, listening to music, social media. However I notice that in my school SFIHS, many people use their phone a lot instead of being part of any school team. One of the reason why I joined the soccer team is because I tried to be disconnected from my phone and try to do something else such doing a homework, doing my reading log or find a part time job. I know many people that when the bell ring , they just get out and go home to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening playing video games or phones. San Francisco International high school has programs that we can carry on, they have a bunch of extracurricular activities that we can do to improve our life and also improve our language.

Students should start doing extracurricular activities in order to give less use to mobile devices.

Students can try to enjoy an sport either in or out of school. Also they can stay after school to do homework or work on something that they didn’t accomplish such an assignment. Another way could be working a part time job after school if they want to get some money, but I will recommend no to work every day because that’s why some of us get started low grades and fall asleep in class. The purpose of doing extracurricular activities is just to find something that will help us in the future and get some experience, and the most important thing is to be disconnected from our phones. I realized that many students from International high school enjoyed the sports, most of them were boys and girls soccer team, also many students stay after school programs just to do homework or class work, and others found a job, but all of them are doing somethings that worth it.

Sarah Perez, a woman that currently works as a writer for Tech Crunch. She wrote the following article “ U.S consumer: now spend 5 hours per day on mobile devices”, which means that we are spending most of our time on our phones.

“ Five hours per day is a 20% increase compared with the fourth quarter of 2015”. In other words this shows that every single year there is an increase of people using their phones 5 hours per day since 2015. “ Most of the time is spended on social media and entertainment “, this part tell us that we are wasting time on Facebook, instagram, snapchat etc. I agree with this part because I used to use those apps.

California high school information. I found in another article from California high school that “volleyball increase 5.59%”, it is equal to 3,260 people(1,640 were girls and 1,620 were boys. Also “soccer was an increase around 5.24%”which is 4, 928 boys and “4.39% for girls”, is equal to 1,969. After we have read some evidence we conclude that sports is really good because you enjoy a team and help you to avoid use your phone. It’s great that high school students have been participating on clubs where to play any game specially soccer and volleyball. It connects to my SFIHS because boys and girls they are staring to join an sport such as soccer and volleyball.

I conclude that phone is a really big addiction because the way that all of us use our phones and spend most of the day on our phones, I would say that soccer is more fun and makes people or students feel connected with others, it is something that reading books or doing homework doesn't do .I will try to push some of my friends or students to enjoy any team that they likes. So by this way it will help everyone to feel comfortable and you will be more away of your phone.
