write your sibling.
For the next 30 days, my sister Nicole and I will be writing each other a series of handwritten letters.

We’ll discuss everything from the relationships in our lives to the stresses and pressures of school and work, the latest developments on Empire or how fucking good Master of None is, the books we’re reading or the podcasts we’re listening to. A space to just write unfiltered pages of whatever’s on our minds that day, to someone we know is always on our side, always willing to listen, always there for us. Or, on heavy days like today, we’ll reflect on the tragedies we’ve had to witness and try, without luck, to make sense of it all.
Why?
Because we both have so much free time on our hands!!
No really, why.
We’ve never done a project together and thought we’d start with what we know best: talking to each other. We swap texts throughout the day, favorite each other’s tweets, recommend each other’s Medium essays, but we don’t often find the time to chat in greater detail.
Also, katie’s really into ROUTINES right now and is trying this thing where she writes as the first thing she does when she wakes up.
And nicole is like, really into numerical projects like reading 52 books in 52 weeks or writing 750 words a day for 100 days…so it was a natural fit.
We’ll be publishing these letters on Medium in this publication: Write Your Sibling.
If any of what we’re writing about strikes a chord, please, respond with your own thoughts and ideas—we’d love to hear from you.

Now that nicole’s learned how to mail things thanks to Wikihow, we’re also going to be snail mailing each other our handwritten letters (each installment on Medium will include a photo as proof).
Thanks for reading.
❤,
katie and Nicole
