Introducing Write Your Startup: Empowering Founders to Grow with Content

Even in a digital world — writing is vital to success. Television shows, movies, YouTube videos, hit songs, and yes, businesses, all require writing. Writing plays an especially significant role in establishing a business. However, not everyone is a natural writer.

Back in 2007, I started my first business — Stubs4Sale. I bought and sold sports memorabilia, with a focus on used ticket stubs from World Series games, Super Bowls, and other significant games. It was a niche business that wasn’t ever going to evolve into a multi-million dollar business, but it had a niche audience that was very passionate about the hobby.

If I didn’t find a way to reach this niche audience, no one would ever know or care about what I was doing, and I wouldn’t sell any ticket stubs. But there was a problem. I had a $0 marketing budget. Since I couldn’t afford to hire anyone, I needed to handle every aspect of my business, from registering the domain name to building a website to marketing my business with blogs and articles. What I soon discovered was that with a little intentional effort, I could successfully establish and grow a business with writing. I secured speaking engagements at national conferences, was published in the leading sports memorabilia magazine, and built a loyal audience of memorabilia collectors that helped my business grow for two years before I changed course.

Writing is a powerful tool for businesses, and I want to help fellow entrepreneurs and startups utilize that tool. With Co-Founder Katie Sowa, I started the Write Your Story community, which is explained in detail below. Write Your Startup is a community of entrepreneurs, business owners, and marketers with the single focus of building a business with compelling content. We welcome those of all skill and experience levels to learn, network, and grow with us.
