I have been a member of Medium since 2018. I believed in its potential then, and I still do.

I’ve been writing online content since 1995. Yes, I was “blogging” before the word was invented in 1999.

Definition of BLOG

I’ve seen many Internet goods and bads come and go. Anyone remember Compuserve? Netscape? Blogger? Xanga? Paper.li?

Back in 2018, Medium immediately struck me as something different, something with real potential to be a premium platform for in-depth content and a community of in-depth readers. But, as Aristotle taught centuries ago, potential is not actuality.

In 2021, I expressed my hope for Medium’s future, but also my worry.
