For someone who died at 55 years old without friends, no life partner, and no children, Friedrich Nietzsche’s life is proof that what we say matters. For words are the greatest time travellers of all.

Friedrich’s wisdom has been travelling through time for 122 years now since his death in 1900. And although he never really got much credit or recognition while he was alive, his legacy is as strong today as it ever has been.

So, let’s look at 12 of my favourite quotes to honour the man that’s no more.

1. “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how”

Love is the most powerful drug in the world, after all.

All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.” ― St. Francis Of Assisi

So, find your way because without it, not much else makes sense.

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” — Desmund Tutu

2. “There are no beautiful surfaces without a terrible depth”
