Rules of the game:

  • Pick and choose a few exercises to do each day before you write.
  • Every exercise has a recommended time frame. Set your phone’s timer and when the alarm goes off, thats it! Time’s up! Stop writing and move on to the next exercise so you keep the adrenaline pumping.
  • Don’t think too hard, just get ready to surprise yourself. The best ideas come from being relaxed, playful, fast.
  • Most importantly — have fun!!

Ready, set, write…

1. 20 character names — 1 minute

2. 50 single lines of speech — 7 minutes

3. Describe a room — 3 minutes

4. Describe an awkward silence — 3 minutes

5. 5 point story arch — 2 minutes

6. Write 10 one-line elevator pitches — 15 minutes

7. Write an argument between a couple about a sandwich — 7 minutes
