If you decide to visit Austin, look a little further and stay at Round Rock. The city is so beautiful and green. It has everything you need. Come for a staycation or a get-away.

  1. The Ruby Hotel And Bar
If you visit Round Rock, you must stay at this beautiful boutique hotel. The Ruby is a gem located in Brushy Creek. The rooms offer peaceful waterfront views and sweet bird sounds every morning. I suggest getting the corner balcony. Even if all you do is work from your laptop, this place is the best to be. The whole property is full of trees and nature, and Instagram-friendly.
  2. Nature
Round Rock is full of nature. You don’t necessarily have to visit a park to experience nature, just take a walk around the city, especially towards Brushy Creek. When I was driving around the city, I just stopped at random lakes, trails, or parks I found. I even stopped at a wedding venue, The Grove (I thought it was a park…Oops). Some of the best parks are Old Settler’s Park, Memorial Park, and Chisholm Trail Crossing Park.

3. Has its own Memorial “Round Rock”
Round Rock is named after a literal Round Rock. This was the most interesting to me; I appreciate learning the history of a new city. Round Rock was given its name in 1854. After the Civil War, Jesse Chisholm began moving his cattle from South Texas to Kansas. The route he used crossed Brushy Creek at Round Rock, and this trail is now called the Chisholm Trail.

4. Round Rock Outlets
Round Rock may be a small city but it doesn’t disappoint. The Round Rock Outlets is a nice outdoor mall and has some of the well-known brands like Nike, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and more. For non-shoppers, it’s a nice place to just chill and enjoy the weather or the food.

5. Donuts
Now, I understand you’re thinking “what’s the big deal about donuts”?. But trust me, Round Rock Donuts deserves its own category. You will love these donuts even if you’re a donut-hater. The one not to miss is The Round Rock Glazed Donut.

6. Coolest Suburb
In 2019, Apartment Therapy chose Round Rock as one of the coolest suburbs in America. The people here are the nicest and open to talk or educate about anything. This city has its own food, dining options, culture, and even its own downtown. In general, Round Rock is its own town, with its own rich history and identity. Round Rock even has an IKEA. Who doesn’t love IKEA?

7. Fastest Growing
In 2020, WalletHub says Round Rock is №8, based on study of economic success factors.” With the Dell Headquarters located in Round Rock, the tech industry is growing.

Bonus: Georgetown
Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to visit Georgetown but every Round Rock resident I talked to recommended Georgetown. I specifically wanted to visit the Inner Space Caverns. Looks pretty cool.
