A Day in Hastings
We went for the art but stayed for the nature
I confess that before going to Hastings my knowledge of this seaside town focused mainly on 1066. The Normans and all that.
Turns out that there’s a lot more to Hastings than King Harold and William the Conqueror. Beginning with the reason for my visit: the exhibition “Black Joy! Up Close and Personal” at the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery. This is a thought-provoking event (on until 25th August) that seeks to highlight artworks by more than forty black artists from or based in the South East. From photography to video, the offer is varied and wide.
Once we were done with the arts, we turned to nature. Hastings boasts scenic views and we were not disappointed. My advice is to go on the Rock-a-Nore, East Hill, and Ecclesbourne Reservoir loop.
