A Last Breath

I’m not clairvoyant. If I ever suggest investing in cryptocurrency, run away. In fact, please smack me first, just in case I’m thinking of investing.

This incident I’m about to relate here took place more than 20 years ago. It had no memorable beginning. What I can assure is that I had no premonition or any hallucinogenics in my system

The Real “C” Word

My father had cancer. Terminal from the beginning. I was a regular visitor. We engaged in conversations of the sort that we, at least I, had managed to avoid for 40-plus years.

I didn’t limit my visits in any way but one virtual certainty was Sunday. I would stop in while the wives were at church. However the night he slipped into that coma was not one of those guaranteed Sundays. It was a Thursday. I stopped in with my wife, to see if there was some way I could be of use.
