How a 93-year-old lady has to fight off a developer who is trying to take her historical family home.

Developers have been confiscating people of color’s land for decades. If they couldn’t buy Blacks out of their property, they would harass them out or get the city to realign the property for some state-intended purpose and take one’s land. This happened countrywide. Bruce Beach was recently deeded back to the Black owners’ descendants. This is just one of many cases that are being fought in court and won returning stolen properties to their rightful owners.

Up close and personal, I have witnessed this type of takeover in my own family. My parents experienced a similar situation where they had purchased land that comprised two lots with a lake in the back of the property. Another nearby white lawyer property owner tried to take one of their lots. My parents when to court before the judge and fought to retain the second lot that was rightfully theirs via the previous owner who was their son, my brother. The rest is history but they had to fight for their own property.
