Be Ye Not Troubled, Oh My Soul (Poem)

Oh my soul,
Worry thou not.

I know you hope to know
Thy future,
But let not worry beset you.

Sit, look, and reflect;
Take note of how far you have come,
Where you are, and your anticipations.

Now, look at what you ought do next,
That you do;
And do with all thy might.

Let not excellence be far from thee,
And let not mediocrity dwell in thy bosom.
This my soul, thou must do.

For worry gives you no progress,
But takes up the time
Of productive work.

When tempted to worry,
Pray;
Ask God, who knows all, for direction.

Thou my soul, learn.
Learn to follow thy Father,
Precept by precept, line by line.

You would be fine.
Do not be troubled, oh my soul,
For you would be fine. Trust God.

“Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.” (Matthew 6:34, TPT).

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” (Philippians 4:6‭-‬7, MSG).

“Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7, TPT).

‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’(Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)
