HOW TO ACQUIRE EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Communication is a two-way process where information or messages are sent from one individual (the sender) through a channel to another ( the receiver) who in turn reacts by providing feedback.
Below I outline the different types of listeners and how to better differentiate them.
ACTIVE LISTENERS
These are a group of people who pay careful attention to the speaker, they let the speaker talk without interrupting or judging them. These types of listeners inspire the speaker’s confidence to keep conversing.
CRITICAL LISTENERS
This branch of listeners is very attentive. They pay careful attention to the person speaking; they are known to be pre- judgemental people; they do not wait for the speaker to finish before asking where they do not understand.
EFFECTIVE LISTENERS
These listeners are responsible for paying attention during the communication process; they owe their effective listening skills to the speaker because they are eloquent speakers; this, in turn, benefits both parties during a conversation.
In conclusion, maintaining eye contact during conversations, patience, attentiveness can help in making you a great listener.
