Confidence with acne helped my skin clear up.
Loving the skin you’re in, tends to change the way you treat yourself
My fight with acne began at the age of 12 and further escalated all through high school. While the popular girls were seemingly getting bright and more beautiful skin and bodies I felt stuck on the popularity sideline. At first anxiety issues developed, but over time I realized that I needed to find ways to deal with my anxiety issues.
How did confidence with my acne scar help to clear up my skin?
It sounds weird that accepting and embracing acne scars, helped my acne scars to clear up. But let me explain how I first noticed the changes in my skin. Between 2013 to 2015, my skin changed for the worse. This drove me to try more and more products to help stop breakout and clear up my skin. What made things worse was that, when I thought I found a great product that seem to have slow breakouts, I became delinquent and lost the efficacy of the product.
It got so bad that I stopped fighting and just started living with it. I even learned how to ignore the stares, laughs, and whispers and got comfortable with my acne scars. It was the hardest thing, and many times I cried because I was the mocking stock most places I went with friends. But every day I promised myself to move forward and love myself amidst what I was going through.
What I didn’t realize was that the emotional stress and sometimes physical stress was a major contributor to the problem with my skin. I was too busy searching for a good product and dealing with undergraduate, and family changes, and more that I didn’t realize the stress my skin was under. It wasn’t until long after when things started getting back to normal that my skin started to improve. Breakouts reduced to 1 small pimple every month (1 week before my menses started).
This was the breakthrough I needed!
The change that changed the way I fight acne.
This was the breakthrough of a lifetime! In 2016, I officially developed a regimen that I stuck to religiously to care for my skin. The damage has already been done, so now it was time to keep breakouts at a minimum and start repair. It took me 3 years to realize the problem:
- Stress in any form, is a major contributor to the my acne problem.
- I needed to be more discipline to see results with Skincare products.
- Healthy skin requires 3 things; good skin are products and routine, exercise and balanced diet, also a lifestyle change.
3 changes I made that improved my skin’s health
- Establish a skincare routine and stick to it
- Live healthy, with exercise, eating, and stress eliminating plans
- Get on a plan that helps me to stay on track with enough flexibility so that I will not relapse.
My skincare routine and the products brought back my confidence.
Today I want to share the skincare routine and the products that help me fight breakouts and improve my skin appears and health. The products I am about to share are affiliate products, which means that I will earn a small commission if a purchase is made from the links I will provide. While searching for good products for my skin, I made a promise that I will share these products with everyone and anyone. Simply because no one deserves to live in shame because of their acne.
First step: Cleanse all the dirt away
To get anything clean, to build upon it means a good cleanser. what I didn’t know was the importance of the strength of the soap being used. That’s when I was introduced to this amazing face wash. Right now, I, my husband, my sisters and brother, my mother, my friends, and even my grandmother now use this product. With this article, I’m sharing it with you.
This Soap & Glory Face Soap, 3-In-1 Daily Detox Vitamin C Facial Wash. You can get it from Amazon or Ulta Beauty for between $12-$14. After just 1 wash the vitamin C leaves the skin feel fresh, clean, and fruity goodness smell. I have been using it for 2 years now and I will never go back.
Second step: Treat and moisturize
This may sound weird to have both the treatment and moisturizer in the same process, but I found this works best for me. The CeraVe Retinol Serum for Post-Acne Marks and Skin treatment and CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion I will use at night. and during the day if I’m wearing makeup I’ll use Aveeno Positively Radiant MaxGlow Hydrating Face Serum + Primer.
Third step: continue treatment
The newest addition to the collection of skincare products is the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream Skin Clearing Perfector. I had initially bought it to just over my scars when I am leaving the house. After 2 weeks of using this BB cream, the dark spots started to look lighter. In just 1 month the monthly pimple, which usually stays for 7–8 days went away only after 3 days. That was my luck. Now it’s 5 months later am I am still using it.
I am now more confident and happy with my skin than I was 10 years ago. it was incidental that I found out stress made my acne worse. But even more surprising were the products I came across that made me a true believer in healthy skin after years of acne scarring. I stand by every one of these products. If you already have an established regimen then don’t change for me, but if you don’t and looking for suggestions, these have 110% of my support.
