DESERT DECEIT

I saw the headlights while they were still an hour away. They would see my fire in half an hour or so. Out here in Australia’s Central Desert at night, anything that gives off a descent amount of light can be seen for miles. The Milky way and the Magellan clouds overhead are super bright but lower your gaze to the desert and it is pitch black.

I was tired, after a long day in the heat, but I would not be sleeping until those headlights…
