While it’s important to look for red flags, it’s just as important to identify the types of clients you want to deal with as a freelancer.

Being able to identify the ideal client is a valuable skill that makes your job much easier, as you start working only with people who trust and respect you and your work.

Here are a few signs you found those clients:

  • Provides a clear project scope
  • Pays on time, every time
  • Respects time and your boundaries
  • Understands that your work requires skill and expertise
  • Gives feedback in a constructive manner
  • Sets realistic deadlines
  • Treats you as equal

There you go. The next time you contact a potential client, make sure it matches some of these green flags and you’re set for a productive and, hopefully, long-lasting business relationship.

Inspired by a fellow creator, I decided to challenge myself to publish 100 short-form articles within January. This is article number 26.
