Hallowe’en Candy

It was a cold, bright, moonlit night. The children pulled on woolly hats, bright scarves and cosy mittens to go trick or treating. Their breath condensed into fog and their eyes sparkled with anticipation.

The kids all knew they were never to visit old Myrtle’s cottage. Not at any time but especially not on Hallowe’en. Nobody told them why. The parents and grandparents…
