Heal This Heart, Lord; Heal This Life, Father (Poem)
Lord, I have looked in the depths
Of my heart,
And what I see
Leaves me dismayed.
I am tempted to ask
If all my prayers have been vain.
I feel disqualified to be reckoned
As your own;
Yet I do hold on,
Because I am no one without You.
This life is yours,
But I am bothered;
It is not near
Any appreciable quality of righteousness.
How do I continue like this?
I look to you, Lord;
Start with this heart filled with sin,
And transform this life.
This is my plea, Father.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10, KJV).
“Who, then, is allowed to ascend the mountain of Yahweh? And who has the privilege of entering into God’s Holy Place? Those who are clean — whose works and ways are pure, whose hearts are true and sealed by the truth” (Psalms 24:3-4, TPT).
“How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psalms 119:9-11, NIV).
“But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves in all your conduct [be set apart from the world by your godly character and moral courage];” (1 Peter 1:15, AMP)
For “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8, KJV).
