Write an article every day… Build a writing business in 2 hours a day… Derive inspiration from everyday things… Wake up 2 hours earlier to write…

These are the advice I read every day about how to build a writing business or how to write consistently online. While it all sounds great, it prioritizes intensity over sustainability. Intensity is a great way to make a lot of progress in a short time, but most people will fail when following intensity-focused advice for infinite games, games where you could play forever. People will fail intensity-focused advice for two reasons:

  1. Intensity-focused strategies will require sacrifice that is not flexible with everyday life.
  2. Intensity-focused strategies will often result in producing a worse product to meet their strategy's goal.

The alternative approach to intensity-focused strategies is sustainability-focused strategies. Both intense and sustainable strategies need consistency, but consistency looks very different in the two different types of strategies. Therefore, in this article, I am going to share advice that will allow you to write both consistently and sustainably!
