Hypothetically — What Happens to Our Stories if Medium Were to Suddenly Disappear?

I’m not an alarmist … it’s just that curious minds want to know

I would really hate it if this were to happen because I’m enjoying the experience of writing on this platform and reading the hundreds of extraordinary pieces by fabulously talented writers.

However, I keep running across recent stories that signal a rumbling undercurrent of not fear, but rather a sense of uncertainty.

In my case, Medium’s demise would not be an issue of losing income (hahaha, what a notion!) but rather one of retrieving —hell, even remembering — the stories I’ve written here.

I’ve read of people archiving their pieces. Is there a function for doing that offline, built within this platform? I’ve been all over Medium’s site and cannot find anything that spells out how to archive stories outside of the platform.

I know I could physically print off my stories, or copy-paste them into a file, but not being the most tech savvy person on the planet, my acorn of a tech brain knows diddly about doing anything more sophisticated than that.

As my grandmother used to say, wisdom does not necessarily come with age. Sometimes…
