The truth is that I learn from each and every writer on the internet, regardless of the genre they are writing in.

There were days I would keep a daily journal of writing tips that I thought invaluable.

Here are three internet writers I’m focusing on today, not only because of their body of work, but also because they are considered to be successful influencers for others who are eager to write content articles or personal essays on the internet.

  1. Zulie Rane

To me, Zulie Rane does have an appealing writing style and an authentic, charismatic YouTube presence. She definitely is a good resource to help navigate the way through perilous or unknown waters of internet writing. She stays current and close to the pulse of trending issues of writing platforms. Here’s one of her writing and blogging tips that makes perfect sense:

“The hardest lesson I learned about writing is this: your writing really isn’t about you. Do you want your readers to value your work? Then you have to provide value to them.” — Zulie Rane

Here’s an interview that Medium published about Zulie Rane, just so you get a hint of what she’s about. She is well known as a highly successful, top internet writer and blogger, as well as a popular influencer on how to write for the internet.

2. Tim Denning

I think I understand the things that make Tim Denning such a popular internet writer. His authenticity, his vulnerability. His solutions to problems. And then there’s his totally human, crisp writing style. Here’s a quote from one of his pieces on Medium:

“I had left a business behind that I loved like a child. My family relationships were a mess. My financial situation was a disaster. I couldn’t even look at myself in the mirror I was so ashamed.” — Tim Denning

You can almost feel that gut punch. It is something we can relate to, something that we want to read about. It’s the train wreck we can’t look away from. We read him when he talks to us about finances, about relationships, about being addicted to success, because these are things we relate to. We pay attention because his writing hits us immediately; we feel it on a subliminal level comparable to an emotional gut punch.

For me, Tim Denning’s writing does ring authentic and feels compelling to us. He is an enjoyable read, one that leaves us feeling inspired. Sometimes he feels like a metaphor, of this ordinary guy who is something more than ordinary, just like someone we may know or connect with. Sometimes he catches our attention with seemingly counterintuitive advice.

At times he comes across as a former underdog who has stumbled upon or unlocked the mysteries of a secret sauce. Or of a ruthless algorithm. After all, that’s what makes him Tim Denning. Turning the corner. Turning adversities to successes. Turning weaknesses into strengths. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. And if he could dig himself out of a hole, maybe we can learn to do the same for ourselves.

It is this endless search to transform our lives. Ourselves. Maybe that’s the secret to Tim Denning’s appeal.

Yeah, he’s a successful blogger and writer, with some awesome credentials, but I for one believe he is an intuitive and lucky fellow. One who just didn’t give up. If you’re looking for life lessons or tips for success from an ‘everyman’ overcoming what comes his way, with drive, ingenuity, (and with superstar internet writing status) or as someone with an indomitable spirit who has found some answers or stories about life to share with you, look no further than Tim Denning.

He manages to draw me in with words that are so tangible and relatable:

There is a solution to this problem of saving money and you don’t have to be an investment guru like Warren Buffett to understand it.” — Tim Denning

3. Ayodeji Awosika

Like Zulie Rane and Tim Denning, Ayodeji Awosika has a strong YouTube presence on viral tutorials, guiding writers on the art of successfully blogging and online writing as a source of income, improved adept writing, a stronger following and an enhanced perspective of life.

Ayodeji Awosika is also a prolific writer on Medium. He advocates writing relatable, psychological trigger headlines and content that pull in and connect with the reader.

He uses journaling as a tool for creativity and developing ten ideas daily. This strategy has helped me personally as a writer. Here’s one of his articles:

These Journaling Techniques & Ideas Changed My Life Forever | by Ayodeji Awosika | Publishous | Jun, 2022 | Medium

“Each day, I write down 10 ideas.

…the ideas could be about anything, e.g., 10 ideas for improving my health, 10 ideas for being more productive, or 10 ideas for making a change in my community.”-Ayodeji Awosika

Takeaway

There is something valuable to learn from each of these writers. Is there a successful writer on Medium whose work you are drawn to? I’d love to know.
