Journaling Doesn’t Have To Be A Chore
If you’re a productivity and self-improvement fiend like myself, you probably want to shoot yourself every time someone mentions one of the following:
- Meditation
- Intermittent Fasting
- Journalling
And if you’re far enough down the rabbit hole, you’ll start feeling guilty that you’re not doing these things.
Every bump in the road becomes a question. A doubt. “Am I struggling with my goal because I’m not doing one of these things?” And this thought is something that I’ve lived daily.
So the solution would be to start. But because I’m now driven by the thought of “I probably should do this” instead of “I want to do this,” the action, whether it’s meditation, fasting or journalling, whatever it is — it’s a goddamn chore.
I don’t want to do it.
I feel like I need to try because there’s some insight I have to unlock. So the action becomes extrinsic. Externally motivated, not internal.

And that’s where the big problem lies.
90% of the people recommending these things aren’t exactly giving any insight as to why…
