How the ChaCha Slide got many out on the dance floor.

DJ Casper (1965 -2023), a Chicagoan hype man‘s 2000s hit song and accompanying moves became ubiquitous and had the whole world on the dance floor. He was a fun-loving, giving person and never imagined the tune he created for his nephew's aerobics class would become the sensation it did around the world.

Casper aka Willie Perry Jr. transitioned after a seven-year battle with kidney and liver cancer. He was diagnosed in 2016 and underwent treatment as his family launched a GoFundMe campaign to aid in his care. According to his wife, he was a fun-loving man who enjoyed life.

Most notable was his touring once with the legendary James Brown. His appreciation for music and deejaying began when he was a teenager. He called himself a natural entertainer who wanted to make people have fun and the Cha Cha slide did just that. His music got the young and old on the floor and all ethnicities.

Casper aka Mr. C the Slide Man. He got his stage name from wearing all white while performing and earned his claim to fame with the megahit “Cha Cha Slide.” This song and dance became an international dance craze after the video that was shot in downtown Chicago was released.
