I read on a website called The Bookseller yesterday that there is such a thing as Independent Bookshop Week.

I’ve never heard of it!

But I think it’s a great idea to support our smaller, independent bookshops instead of the big giants.

According to the article below, almost 700 independent bookshops are taking part.

It’s happening from Saturday 15th June — Saturday 22nd June 2024.

Independent bookshops are a brilliant part of the local community — they often stock (or can get) obscure books you need, provide local jobs, and run events for all ages and parts of the community.

They are also champions of the local area and local authors.

‘The Big Book Club’ and ‘Bookshop Crawls’ are two main activities happening in the week.
