Living Life On Your Own Terms Is The Best Way To Live
Are you living ‘your’ life, or the life you were told to live?
I had a chat with a colleague today over lunch about where we are now in life and whether it’s where we wanted to be as a kid.
We’re both heading our own departments, leading our own teams, and in a way, seen as people who have ‘made it’ in the corporate world; having climbed that elusive ‘ladder of success’ that many set out to climb when they start their career.
While I am so grateful for where I am now in life and in my career, I told my colleague that there is still a part of me that feels a bit empty.
And it’s the part where I feel I’m not fully living my life on my own terms.
There is this part of me that knows my life is a life that I was told to live by others throughout my years of growing up.
It’s the typical scenario isn’t it?
- Study hard in school
- Get good grades and enter a good college
- Study hard in college
- Get good grades to get a good paying job
- Get a good job and work your way up the corporate ladder
- Get as high as position…
