Lost Treasure?
If you have a free YouTube account, like me, you’ll have to watch quite a few ads before you get to the actual content you want to watch. More and more, I see ads featuring coaches and trainers offering easy ways to succeed in business or make money on the stock market. Then there are those ads offering quick personal development fixes! The whole emphasis is on making it big!
Apart from wondering how successful the methods of these coaches are, I wonder at what they are ‘selling’. A ticket to a better life?
I wonder why there aren’t enough of these people talking about bringing meaning to your days or how to become a better person from within? What about teaching how to live by one’s principles?
I think in selling success we’re losing the treasure that everyday life can bring. The treasures of mindfulness and gratitude. The joys of Nature. Meaningful conversations. Simple kindness…..
The happiest people I know are not those who find their golden ticket; they are those who, while in pursuit of worthy goals, discover and treasure the beauty and sweetness of the everyday moments. — Dieter F. Uchtdorf
