10 days til distribution or bust

I’m new to Medium, but I’ve managed to gain nearly 1,000 followers in my first two months. It’s not much but I feel accomplished. It took me a whole month to get noticed by the Curation Gods. They took notice and distributed my article in An Injustice called “A COVID Nurse Recalls the Day it All Went Down.” Within hours they went back through my old stories and distributed several more.

One myth got busted when they distributed a story over 10 days old. For those that don’t know, there is an unspoken rule on Medium that you have 10 days to get Chosen For Further Distribution. Then it’s too bad, better luck next time. The story curated after 12 days was published in The Pink called “My Father’s Dream Was For Me To Get Married.” This was my only story to beat the system. But I haven’t had a chance to test it again because after my first curation everything I’ve written has been Chosen For Further Distribution. Except for poetry, specifically Haikus. Any poets out there with information on your curation rates, I’d love to know how Medium handles that genre!
