Shooting Moonrise over Skywalker Ranch

Lucky? Sure, but it takes work to make luck

Dome over the Library (Rubin, 1987). It bathed the already-lush redwood library in a golden-amber that made it one of the most magical spots in the Ranch. A team of stained glass artisans took six months to build the 19-foot dome. It was comprised of 400 sheets of glass, sculpted into 49 separate panels.

It’s a common misconception that Lucas Valley Road was named for George Lucas, but it was actually named for an Irish immigrant named John Lucas, a mountain man who settled in Marin in 1849. But by coincidence, Lucas purchased nineteen hundred acres north of Lucas…
