As I tried searching for a quieter place, the more noise my ears noticed.
A young man shouting on the street.
Vegetable vendor announcing his presence while crossing the road.
Neighbor talking to someone on the terrace.

Disturbed, I left the balcony with my laptop inside to concentrate.

The noises followed.
This time disguised as phone rings and notification sounds.
As my brother’s footsteps towards the kitchen.

I decided to utilize another room. The one deeper in the house.
But then, the water poured in the bucket in the adjacent bathroom and the clock ticked too loudly.

That’s it. I switch off the lights and shut the door. Put on earmuffs and I lie down.
Only to realize
That I’m the home
To the nearby
And the distant sounds.

After a few hours, a doorbell wakes me up. It didn’t feel like noise.
