One Month with the M4 Mac Mini: Build, Performance, & Who It’s For
Big Performance in a Small Package
It’s been a month since I started using the M4 Mac Mini, and I’ve had enough time to put it through its paces. This machine is a solid update to Apple’s lineup, and I’m excited to share my thoughts on its build, performance, and who I think it’s best suited for.
Build Quality and Design
The M4 Mac Mini has a solid, reliable build that sticks to Apple’s minimalist design philosophy. On the outside, it’s simple, compact, and feels premium. On the back, you’ll find plenty of ports to work with:
- M4 model: 2 USB-C, 3 Thunderbolt 4, 1 HDMI, 1 10Gb Ethernet, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
- M4 Pro model: Slightly upgraded with 3 Thunderbolt 5 ports but otherwise identical.
When it comes to display support, the M4 Mac Mini can handle up to three monitors: two through Thunderbolt and one via HDMI. And yes, unlike some of Apple’s fanless devices, the Mac Mini comes with a fan, which keeps it cool and quiet even under load.
