A King Crab Experience
Fresh Catch
Last weekend, I went to the docks to see what fresh catch was available. On Sunday afternoon, there was nothing, and I left dejected. I knew that fishermen were catching King Crabs in the local area.
Now Available
I received a notice Monday evening that King Crabs were now available. I looked at my clock and noted I had ten minutes to get down to the dock, which was ten minutes away. I put the car in drive and hurried on down the road.
At the Dock
When I got to the marina, I saw a line of people standing beside a fishing boat. Sure enough, the sign said, “Fresh Crabs for Sale.” That was all the encouragement I needed. I ran, hopped, and skipped down the dock, hoping I was not too late.
Logistical Problems
Right off the bat, I had a few logistical problems. Everyone in line had a bucket, a tote, or large canvas bags to take the crabs home in. I had two bare hands. The next one is “no credit or debit cards.” I had eighty dollars in cash, but that would only buy a four-and-a-half-pound King Crab.
