Roz Warren, Writing Coach, recently responded to ten writing prompts that Sharon Meyers had posted. They looked like fun, so I thought why not give them a try?

Here are the prompts and my responses:

1. If you could jump into a pool of anything, what would it be full of?

Dark chocolate. Okay, call me weird. I love dark chocolate and usually eat a small piece each day. I’ve heard it is good for you.

2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?

I’ve had several.

These days I prefer “Bob.”

I was called “Bobby” by my folks when I was a young kid. If they called me “Robert Ray,” I knew I was in trouble.

A dear friend of my parents called me “Scooter” because of the way I scampered over the rocks and boulders near our home.

In junior high, a couple of friends started calling me “Bert.” They came to my door once and asked my mom if “Bert” was home. My mom looked puzzled and replied, “No, no one named ‘Bert’ lives here.”

For many years now I’ve been called “Ji” by my wife. It comes from the Japanese O-jisan, which means old man. My daughter calls me “Toe,” from O-tosan, which means father in Japanese.

My Muse is in hiding, but we cross paths from time to time. I think I gave the old guy too much grief. Maybe he quit without notice.
