The Forest Monster

I encountered a forest monster with a goofy face on a walk through the forest. He did not inspire fear or loathing but rather a sentiment that the forest was filled with kind spirits.

Mr. Potato Head

It was hard to take him seriously. He looked like Mr. Potato Head without his glasses, and it is difficult to think of Mr. Potato Head as evil.

Talking to Trees

He spoke to hikers, bikers, and forest dwellers. He offered free advice as long as you listened. I asked him how he was doing. After a moment of pensive thought, he exclaimed, “I am a tree. I live and breathe for free in a beautiful forest.”

Free Advice

“I live amongst my friends and family; we are provided with minerals and nutrients from the land, air, and the nearby lake. We love all weather, and the free sunshine makes us grow big and strong. This makes me happy.”

Reflections from a Tree Monster

I thought to myself, I would like to be a tree, too. I would not have to work and shop at the grocery store for food…
