The Last Remnants of Autumn
Memories of one of my favourite seasons
At the time of writing we have not seen the sun in London for over four days. This includes witnessing a magical, morning mist enveloping the Shard on Friday as I cycled southbound across Blackfriars Bridge. However, there’s only so much monochrome I can take before I start craving a world of light and colour. Small wonder that my thoughts keep drifting back to a few weeks ago when a sun-dappled autumn was still with us.
My first photo (above) was taken in Victoria Park whilst waiting for a trainee. I couldn’t help noticing the way those auburn-tinted leaves stood out in the foreground.
Next comes a golden-hued bush in the Russia Docks Woodland. I’d never been to this part of London before in spite of the fact that I’d walked on the Thames Path, located a few minutes away. The woodland is an oasis of calm and peace and I can’t wait to come back in the spring and summer.
My recent visit to Oxford was motivated by an exhibition at the Oxford Modern Art Gallery. Yet, whilst going for a walk on the day we were…
