Reading books, at certain times, refresh the things that we already know and in another aspect that is something really deep inside. Likewise, I could refresh the things that I already know as highly effective three techniques to master our mind from Robin Sharma’s masterpiece, “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari.” Here you go with them —

  1. The Heart of the Rose

This technique is simple and it will help you stay focused and disciplined. For this, you just need to have a fresh flower (rose) and a tranquil place. As you find them, settle yourself on the floor and stare at the heart of the flower you hold in your hand. Observe the beauty of the flower. In the beginning, it will be hard to stay focused which is an indication of an untrained mind but as the days pass by you might hardly spend a day without following this technique.

“You will enjoy more energy and optimism. Most importantly you will also observe a sense of joyfulness entering your life along with an ability to appreciate the many gifts that surround you. Each day, no matter how busy you get and how many challenges you might face, return to the Heart of the Rose…It is your island of peace.”

2. Opposition Thinking

It’s nothing but to think oppositely, whenever negative or undesirable thoughts take root in our minds like whenever negative slides appear on the screen of a screen projector, just as you quickly move to the next slide or replace it with a nice slide, you have to act the same with the negative thoughts that enter the temple of your mind. I hope Robin Sharma’s this simile explained it in a better way. To perform this, you can replace the worrisome thought with something joyful that happened in recent times. Else, you feel as if you are happy and energetic moving your hands and body.

“A worrisome thought is like an embryo: it starts off small but grows and grows. Soon it takes the on a life of its own.”

With the understanding of the impact of a negative thought, try to give yourself a punishment whenever an undesirable thought sits in your mind. It worths the punishment, in the long run, to completely evade them from entering your garden of the mind. This will help you feel a great power within yourself.

3. The Secret of the Lake

This technique is all about visualizing and really you don’t necessarily be there on a lake, you can do this in whatever place you wish which is calm enough to fully concentrate and focus. Visualizing and picturing in the mind something you want to have and attain in your life or about who you want to be. For instance, if you want to be a successful entrepreneur or a great father, you have to imagine yourself being an entrepreneur or a great loving father, picturing how you will look like working and being responsible and so on.

“Yor mind has magnetic power to attract all that you desire into your life. If there is lack in your life it is because there is lack in your thoughts.Hold wonderful pictures into your mind’s eye...Once you start to experience the joy this ancient technique brings, you will realize the infinite potential of your mind and begin to liberate the storehouse of ability and energy that currently sleeps within you.”

I hope, following these three techniques will help you and me master our minds. So, let’s make it happen today!
