What Does Keto or Keto-Friendly Mean to You?

This time of year is for spending time with family, close friends, and church members. In our hearts, we feel the Christmas Spirit in the food that Grandma makes, or Mom recreated.

However, when it comes to our waistline the Christmas Spirit was a little too giving. Don’t fret, there are many tricks, tips, and diet fads to help you lose the weight you packed on during these last few months of the year.

The Ketogenic Diet is inspired by the low-carbohydrate craze or low-carb diet. The synopsis or the term of Ketogenic is the release of ketones as an alternate fuel within the body.

This liver produced chemical will be activated when there are fewer carbohydrates or calories in your daily food intake. The body does take care of itself; in doing so, it will use the stored fats in your body to survive.

This diet is not for sissies. There are many versions to the Keto Diet, and if followed correctly, it is successful in weight loss, in raising the good cholesterol and lowering or maintaining the bad cholesterol.

Doctors who support the Keto Diet recommend that you eat lean meats, veggies when allowed, and the proper ‘good’ carbs. If one eats too many fatty meats, protein, the body will still use the alternate fuel; however, there is the risk of raising the bad cholesterol (CHO). Doctors also recommend that you drink plenty of water; this helps in the digestive process.

Warning: this diet is poop-friendly. It does cause a reaction that will produce looser stool; in some cases has documented diarrhea in the results of their study. This is why doctors recommend drinking water during your day. The minimum is 8- eight (8) ounce cups per day. Be aware that some anal bleeding may occur; if so, add a few more good carbs to your diet and cut back on the meat/protein. Ensure that you get enough of them from the approved food list for the Keto Diet. This will keep those moments of lightheadedness or dizziness from occurring too often. This is a trigger that you are burning ketones too fast.

In my own personal opinion, as a user of the Keto Diet to help with a medical condition, I am a diehard supporter. I, like the doctors, encourage you to take it easy at first. Know the food list and create something special for you and your family. Let the diet work its magic. You may or may not have downfalls in your diet changes; for example, you will lose inches before weight. This is all right; your body will do this in response to the changes in your new eating habits. The loss of inches around the waistline is a good thing, this is how your body will shape the new you, and then the actual weight loss can take place.

Enjoy the new you and be of good cheer.
