What is Crime?

What is crime? Crime is an unlawful act or offense that is punishable by law that is committed by a person or a group of people for personal or mutual gain. There are also various types of crimes such as white-collar crime which is mostly done for financial gain and is non-violent, property crime which is always includes private property, and theft of possession. Next you have organized crime which are planned and set out by gangs and criminal groups that are done on an extensive level. After you have public order crime which is crime that could potentially put the public in danger and weaken communities’ structure crimes such as drug paraphilia, prostitution, and drug and alcohol offenses. Lastly, you have violent crime where an offender uses a deadly weapon or deadly technique on victim. This type of crime consists of rape, murder, assault, manslaughter, and or kidnapping.

Societal Impact of Crime.

The societal impact of crime is primarily affected by the justice system’s perspective of crime in correlation of our society. Which means depending on what the crime is, how it is viewed, and the extent of the crime will determine how the justice system and society views it.
