What You Need to Know About Human Resources
The real reason they didn’t report it.
“They’re famous for that!”
Those were the words of a career human resources vice-president about the firm where my client worked. She’d only been there a few months when one of her colleagues called her a “bitch.” It was reported to human resources and being the lesser of the two of of them, she got pushed out.
“Everyone in the field knows that’s how they operate,” He went on. Of course he knew how this company operated, because he was old enough to be my father and he’d been around.
Another client told me she was harrassed by someone in leadership at her company. This person was senior by a few levels. She found another job and left. I knew why she hadn’t reported what she was experiencing to human resources. What were they going to do? Fire him?
“He had too much power. I never told anyone. I just left.” She knew if she went to HR she’d be out in a matter of months. If it took that long.
At a place where I was a new worker, a veteran employee warned me, “Human Resources has been trying to get rid of her for years. Years!” That was 20 years ago and she’s still there. “Watch your back with her, he warned me.”
