Why I Don’t Like the Idea of Writing on the Internet Anymore

--

The idea has been swirling around in my head for the past few months. Since the start of the year, I have been anti-artificial intelligence. I call myself a part of the Resistance. Even more, I wrote about how I felt the need to dig down further in my trench to reinforce my positions. I’ll seek to constantly improve my craft, but I won’t touch it.

A couple of months ago, I learned about what corporations like Open AI had used websites like fanfiction website Archive of Our Own (AO3) to help train the language learning models. Currently, the same company is facing an FTC inquiry and lawsuit about illegal misusing people’s copywrited material. This is a sampling of issues artificial intelligence is facing. Generative image programs have also also had similar conversations as well. Even Google, as reported in The Verge
