The Keto diet is a specific type of diet that aims to increase weight loss by restricting carbohydrates intake to 10% to 0%. A complete diet should always include all the food groups in appropriate amounts. But in this case, decreasing the carbohydrates content forces the body to use the extra stored fat as energy. So, that brings us to the tricky part of the keto diet.

What makes the keto diet tricky?

The Keto diet’s design forces the body to use its extra stored fat as energy for daily body functions. But this can become problematic. One, the breakdown of fats leads to ketone bodies formation. Ketone bodies are acidic and can cause acidification of the blood. And two is that some cells in the body cannot undergo ketosis (formation of ketone bodies from the breakdown of fat). One such cell is the red blood cell. How do these cells obtain energy for regular function?

So what happens when the fat breaks down to ketone bodies? That means the red blood cells would be deficient in their energy source. But more so, the by-products of fat breakdown are ketone bodies which are also acidic. Therefore the body is in a stressful situation called metabolic acidosis. Metabolic acidosis is a condition caused by decreased pH of the blood. Changes in the pH disrupt normal functions of the body.

Why do people still use the keto diet to lose weight?

The truth is the keto diet is the best and fast way to lose weight. What is the best way to use the keto diet to lose weight? Well, you cannot use this diet for long. If you use the keto diet, it should be at three weeks intervals. Two weeks intervals prevent the buildup of ketone bodies.

The composition of the keto diet is usually in the ratio of 70%:20%:10%, fats, proteins, carbohydrates, respectively. Now the next hurdle is what to use in the keto diet. Well, that is simple.

Examples of foods for the keto diet

Keto meals are high in fats, but there should be healthy saturated fats. Examples include

  • Nuts
  • Seed
  • Avocado
  • Eggs

While the major sources of proteins are:

  • Poultry
  • Eggs
  • Beef
  • Fish

What makes the keto diet so successful?

All of the foods listed above are the healthiest sources for keto meals. But another problem that arises is the preparation time for these meals. There is help! One of the best ways to fix all the problems with the keto diet is to use the keto app. The custom keto diet is one of the best keto dieting apps. Check it out for yourself.

But, what makes the keto diet so successful? Is it because of the limited carbohydrate intake? No, the Keto diet is an effective weight-loss method because it forces the body to burn more stored fat for energy. A side effect of burning fat is to ketone bodies. Therefore, you should not practice the keto diet beyond two weeks.

So my advice to you is:

  1. Get enrolled in a keto diet plan a is link above.
  2. Never stay longer than three weeks on this diet.
  3. When you are not on the keto diet, limit unhealthy food intake.
  4. Lastly, have fun, enjoy your weight loss and the food you eat.
