Juggling a career, being a good wife and mom, and remaining sane is more than a balancing act. You need strategic planning, lots of energy, and the ability to let some sh*t go sometimes. As we are in the middle of the flu season, these lessons will be the same for your life. I mean, look at me, I am still here. First, let me paint the picture of what I’m dealing with.

Right now, we are a family of three: my husband, my daughter, and me. My husband works a mostly remote job and doesn’t go into the office often. My daughter is in daycare and thoroughly enjoys it. I recently started a new career as a clinical documentation specialist (CDS) at a nearby hospital. This position is full-time on-site. You might think that’s not bad, and you are not wrong. But during flu season, things get 10 times worse.

What’s the worst that could happen during flu season?

The deficits begin slowly at the beginning of flu season. In the first week of October, my daughter started sneezing and coughing and then developed a runny nose. Luckily, we had her medicine on hand and quickly gave her and increased her vitamin C and hand washing. Over the weekend, she developed a fever, which led to me doing laundry and…
