You Are Lucky If You Have Gone to School

Don’t take education for granted

During weekends, I walk around to find my dinner place. Many small eateries line up the roadside, and most are affordable, but at times, even these places can pinch your pocket.

But the road leading to these eateries has people sleeping on the footpath or people cooking on the pavement, and when I see it, I ask myself what have they done to live that way? Don’t they deserve a better life?

I wish I could do something for them, but at this point, I can’t do much for them. I have just started with my job, and it pays me just enough to keep myself going. Now, I can complain about why I am not getting more, but when I see those people living on the streets, I realise I am fortunate and shouldn’t be grumbling about it.

I remember one of my teachers said if you don’t want to study or submit shoddy work, just remember how lucky you are to be sitting in the classroom because many people your age can’t afford this.

It hits me now what my teacher meant, and I get the seriousness of what he said. And I try to do my best, knowing that I could be on the other side, so I don’t want to take my work for granted.

What about you?
