What is a value?

A value is something that defines who you are. It’s about the person you are. Usually values are things that we take for granted and don’t think about much.

For example, a value might be honesty or respect or humility. Values can also be things that we aspire to have more of in our lives, such as empathy or creativity.

A value can also be an ideal, such as truthfulness or family love — something we want to experience more of in our lives or bring to the world around us.

What Are Your Personal Values:

Values are the things that drive us. They motivate us and help us to understand what we believe in. Our values affect the way that we view the world and how we act in response to adversity.

The most important thing is for people to know themselves, what they want, and what they value before acting on anything else.

People can either choose their own values or inherit them from their parents or society at large. Once a person knows his/her values, he/she should focus on living up to them in order to live a fulfilled life

How to Discover Your Values

Everyone has values that they cherish in life; these values guide us through tough decisions and help us identify what is important to us.

You can start this process by asking yourself, “What is most important to me?” and then create a list of the words that come to mind.

If you are having trouble identifying your values, try taking time for self-reflection or reading about how others identify their life goals.

Once you have identified your values, use them as a guide in difficult situations.

How to Live Your Values

We are all born with the ability to live by our own morals and principles.

It is up to us how much we want to live by them.

It is our responsibility to live by our own values, because they are what make us different from everyone else.

Living by your values can be difficult at times, but it creates a sense of self-respect and purpose in life.

It feels good to do things that you know are right for yourself and others around you.

So instead of letting others tell you how to live your life, make the decision for yourself!

My Values On Medium — Finding My Way…

I joined in the middle of July, 2021 and started writing the last week of August. I took some courses, learned and studied the platform.

What are the successful bloggers doing? Can I do that?

At first it seems like you are climbing a huge mountain. The learning curve is huge, and there is so much to read and know, it can be overwhelming.

I decided to just start writing, so I could get those “crappy” articles out of the way. I decided to self publish, because I couldn’t figure out where to publish.

The more I read, I found some new publications looking for writers.

YAY! They are talking to me! It made a difference as I got more followers and reads.

As I continue to read and follow numerous writers — from newbies to experts — I am figuring out what they are doing and why. If I like it, I try it to see if it will help me.

This whole “Medium thing” is a system that allows us to express ourselves and make some money in the process.

Lately, there have been many negative comments about the changes.

My value — Change isn’t necessarily bad. We may not recognize it now, but changes usually do improve the systems. It’s just that humans are creatures of habit and resist change.

Change is inevitable.

I believe that whatever changes are being made will be for the best.

In case you haven’t figured it out — one of my other values: I stay positive no matter what.

All things happen for a reason. Be flexible and go with the flow.

What are your values about writing on Medium?

Final thoughts:

What You Get Out of Living Your Values

Living your values is the most important thing you can do.

You should make sure that you are living in accordance with what you really believe in, what you want to achieve, and who you are.
