Zero Excuses

I’m a great believer in writing daily. I may not blog every day, but I think writing every day is a habit that brings great rewards.

My reasons for writing every day are:

  1. It helps me feel at peace. For me writing is healing work.
  2. I feel less stressed.
  3. I find connection through my writing.
  4. I find balance through writing.

To borrow Natalie Goldberg’s words : To write feels better than all the excuses.

The 3 types of writing I do every day:

  1. I write Morning Pages, a practice taught by Julia Cameron.
  2. Journaling / Reflection on Scripture — some days I journal to prompts and every day I write my reflections on a passage of scripture.
  3. Writing for others — five minutes in a notebook — which then gets translated into blog posts which I try to publish as often as possible.

Here are 2 tips to write every day:

  1. Use long hand. Read this article in the Guardian to know the benefits of handwriting versus typing.

2. Don’t judge what you write. Allow your ‘self’ to flow freely on paper.

Today, I urge you to join me in resolving to write every day — and entertain zero excuses!
