Has it ever happened to you that you realize a day or hour after making a decision or taking an action that it was stupid to act on?

It happens with everyone once in a while, even people with mellow personalities are not safe from this devil’s act.

It happened to me when I bought my first smartphone, I went android way ;) Again when I started my ERP implementation company for which I had to meet managers, executives at their office every day. I bought 3 pairs of formal shirts and pants which I never got a chance to wear. And again when a good friend of mine invited me to his wedding ceremony planned in a different city, it was too costly for me to appear but still, I ordered a $180 casual jacket. I didn’t go to the ceremony and never wore that jacket, it is still hanging in my closet.

I did something stupid 2 days ago, at bedtime I had something tickling in my ear that was bothering me. I got up and started poking in my ear with a cotton bud to remove ear wax if it was causing the tickle, but it didn’t get out and pushed even deeper toward eardrum and now my one ear is blocked with sharp pain because ear wax got stuck to eardrum :(

Sometimes we are blind to the consequences of our such desperately-quick and thoughtless action which we regret later. For instance, in a fight between a couple, any one of them say a thing that they do not mean but words got out of their mouth unwillingly, unintentionally, involuntarily that cost them a relationship just because they acted too soon.

Most of the time it is best to hold our horses when we are too excited i.e a Big Sale at apparel brand, angry at someone because they told a truth you weren’t ready to hear but had to defend instead saying something harsh or insulting. In such circumstances, put your action on hold for a couple of hours or for a day and soon you would realize that the action you were about to take was un-necessary and rather stupid.

If it is a business idea you are excited about, write it down and forget it. Then check back after a week or two to see if you are still excited and it still seems worth acting upon :)
